A Coloured Rosette

Greg Slater has certainly put the hours in to bring us this spectacular image of Caldwell 49 - better known as The Rosette Nebula. The nebula sits in the constellation of Monoceros at over 5000 light years from us.

Usually we see this as a red object, however, here Greg has used narrow band filters (- 2hrs HA, 2hr Oiii and 1 hr Siii) and coloured like so : R = Sii, G=Ha, B=Oiii for more info.
